Discover More About Air Freight Forwarding

What is Air Freight?

Air freight, in the context of freight forwarding, involves transporting goods between airports using passenger or cargo aircraft. This method enables fast and efficient delivery of purchased goods, making it a crucial mode of transportation in international trade.

What is an Air Freight Forwarder?

An air freight forwarder is a company that specializes in air freight services, offering logistics, transportation, and cargo handling to clients. They typically collaborate with airlines, customs authorities, and other relevant agencies to ensure the smooth movement of goods from origin to destination.

The responsibilities of an air freight forwarder include coordinating the transportation and delivery of goods, managing customs clearance and related documentation, arranging cargo insurance, providing consulting services, and overseeing the tracking and tracing of shipments. They must be well-versed in both domestic and international air freight regulations and operations, and possess strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of customers' goods.

What can MILE LOGISTICS do for me?

Whether you're shipping on EXW or FOB terms, we can arrange air transport for your goods. We’ll pick up the items from the supplier's specified address as per their requirements, handle customs clearance in China, inspect the goods, purchase cargo insurance, book the flight, and ensure the goods are safely delivered to the airline for transport. Our service ensures that your goods arrive securely at the destination airport.

What Procedures are Usually Required After Air Freight Arrives at the Destination?

Import Declaration: Upon arrival at the destination, the consignee or their agent must submit an import declaration to the local customs and provide the necessary documents, including details about the goods and proof of tax payment.

Customs Inspection: Customs will inspect the goods to verify that the information, such as the name, quantity, and specifications, matches the declaration. Stricter inspections may be carried out for prohibited or restricted items.

Tax Payment: In accordance with local regulations, customs will apply relevant import taxes, tariffs, value-added taxes, and other fees to the goods. The consignee is required to pay these fees within the specified timeframe.

Release of Goods: Once the goods pass customs inspection and all fees are paid, they will be released and delivered to the consignee or their agent.

FAQs

Do I have to pay customs for a package from China to the Philippines?

Yes, you might have to pay customs for a package from China to the Philippines if its CIF value exceeds PHP 10,000, which is the de minimis threshold. Below this value, no taxes or duties are generally charged. If the value is higher, duties ranging from 0% to 20% and a GST of 12% may apply based on the product's HS Code.

How much is a container from China to the Philippines?

It depends on arrival and departure ports, but for reference, you should pay about 900-1000 USD for a 20FT one and about 1700-1900 for a 40FT one.

What is the cheapest way to ship from China to the Philippines?

For shipping 20 or 40-foot containers, the route from Shenzhen to Manila is often the most cost-effective option.

Regarding small parcels under 2kg, the cheapest method is typically China Post, though it's important to note that the transit time can be quite lengthy, ranging from about 2 to 4 weeks.

Are there freight flights from China to the Philippines?

Yes, freight flight services are operating between China and the Philippines. Cargo airlines facilitate the shipment of goods between the two countries, offering services that generally result in average transit times ranging from 1 to 3 days.

What is the payment method for shipping fees?

For shipping fees below 500 US dollars, we can accept payment through Paypal or T/T. If the shipping fee exceeds 500 US dollars, we can only accept payment through T/T. However, if your supplier is willing to make payment to us in CNY, we are also happy to accept it.

How can I track the shipping status of my goods?

For air freight: You can track the transportation route by entering the bill of lading number on the website of the airline company. The bill of lading number is composed of Arabic numerals and has a format of "***-**** ****". For sea freight: We usually recommend tracking the shipment through the container number on the website of the shipping company as this method is the most accurate.
